Fanatec CSL Pedal Mods: Brake, Throttle and Clutch Upgrade Guide
Share
Fanatec CSL pedals offer several possible upgrade paths, but choosing the correct mod is not always straightforward.
Do you have standard CSL Pedals or the Load Cell version? Are you upgrading the brake, throttle or clutch? Do you own CSL Elite V1 or CSL Elite V2 pedals?
These differences matter because products carrying the CSL name are not automatically interchangeable.
This guide explains the main 3DRap Fanatec CSL pedal mods and helps you select the right upgrade for your equipment and driving preferences.
Identify Your Fanatec Pedals Before Choosing a Mod
Before purchasing any upgrade, identify the exact pedal set shown on its label or original order.
Fanatec CSL Pedals Without Load Cell
The standard CSL brake works differently from a load-cell pedal. If your goal is to modify its resistance and response without installing a load cell, the dedicated Fanatec CSL Brake PRO Kit is the relevant 3DRap solution.
Fanatec CSL Pedals With Load Cell
The Fanatec Load Cell Kit replaces the original brake and measures pressure instead of relying only on pedal travel.
For this configuration, 3DRap offers the Fanatec CSL Elastomer Brake MOD, designed to change the resistance and travel characteristics of the load-cell brake.
CSL Elite V1, CSL Elite V2 and standard CSL Pedals may look similar, but their upgrade compatibility is different.
For Elite models, use products explicitly listing the relevant version, such as the CSL Elite V1 and V2 Elastomer Brake MOD.
Never choose a mod from the word “CSL” alone.
Fanatec CSL Brake Mods
The 3DRap Brake PRO Kit is intended for the standard CSL brake without a load cell.
Its available configurations provide different combinations of pedal travel and resistance:
- Single: a softer compromise with more travel
- Coaxial: a firmer configuration
- Modular H: increased resistance near the end of the stroke
- Modular S: a configuration designed around more progressive modulation
The ideal setup depends on your driving style, seating position and how firmly your pedals are mounted.

Elastomer Brake MOD for CSL Load Cell Pedals
- Linear
- Full Linear
- Progressive
- Full Progressive
- Hybrid
Linear configurations provide more usable movement throughout the braking action. Progressive configurations become firmer toward the end of the stroke. Hybrid combines the two behaviours.
This gives drivers a way to tune pedal feel without treating one resistance profile as universally correct for every car or simulator.

Throttle and Clutch Mods
Brake feel receives most of the attention, but throttle and clutch behaviour can also influence consistency and immersion.
Throttle/Clutch Excursion MOD
The Fanatec CSL Throttle/Clutch Excursion MOD uses an eccentric end stop with two possible orientations.
The Rally configuration allows greater travel, while the Formula configuration reduces it. The end stop also prevents direct metal-to-plastic contact at the end of the pedal stroke.
The Fanatec CSL Throttle/Clutch PRO Kit uses a radial bearing, torsion spring and shaped profile rail.
Its reversible guide provides two profiles:
- Vintage: intended for a more traditional pedal character
- Modern: intended for GT and Formula-style use
Throttle, clutch and combined kit configurations are available.
A dedicated Throttle/Clutch PRO Kit for CSL Elite V2 is also available. Choose it only for the model stated on the product page.
Which Fanatec Pedal Mod Should You Choose?
| Your goal | Suggested starting point |
|---|---|
| Change the standard non-LC brake feel | CSL Brake PRO Kit |
| Tune a CSL load-cell brake | CSL Elastomer Brake MOD |
| Reduce or change throttle/clutch travel | Excursion MOD |
| Add a more defined throttle or clutch response | Throttle/Clutch PRO Kit |
| Upgrade CSL Elite V1 or V2 | Select the dedicated Elite-compatible product |
There is no single configuration that suits every driver. Consider pedal mounting, seat stability, preferred cars and the force you can apply comfortably.
Installation and Calibration
Before installing any mod:
- Confirm the exact pedal model and product compatibility.
- Secure the pedal set and seat before testing higher brake resistance.
- Follow the installation instructions supplied with the product.
- Recalibrate the affected pedal axis when required.
- Test the new configuration gradually before changing simulator settings.
A firmer pedal without a stable mounting system can make braking less comfortable rather than more consistent.
Frequently Asked Questions
Only after confirming the exact configuration. A mod designed for the CSL load-cell brake is not the same as the Brake PRO Kit for the standard non-LC pedal.
Are CSL and CSL Elite pedals compatible with the same mods?
Not automatically. CSL, CSL Elite V1 and CSL Elite V2 use different designs. Select only products explicitly listing your model.
Which elastomer configuration is best?
It depends on the resistance and travel you prefer. Linear, progressive and hybrid configurations provide different pedal curves rather than a universal “best” option.
Do I need to recalibrate the pedals?
Calibration may be necessary after changing travel or pedal behaviour. Follow the product instructions and Fanatec configuration procedure.
Are 3DRap Fanatec pedal mods compatible with consoles?
The product pages list PC, PlayStation and Xbox compatibility where applicable. On consoles, the pedals must still be connected through a compatible Fanatec wheelbase or racing wheel.
Upgrade Your Fanatec Pedals Step by Step
A complete pedal replacement is not always necessary.
By identifying the exact Fanatec model and the specific behaviour you want to change, you can choose a targeted brake, throttle or clutch modification.
